American Horror Story:Coven Gives Chills

As a first time watcher on the premiere night of American Horror Story: Coven, I thought I was a little traumatized from the bloody graphic scenes. The trailer was a pretty scary from the witches is black capes walking in the woods, to the thick fog, and eerie sound effects used in the theme song. But the part, which made me look away, was seeing a man’s eyelids being sown together. Check out the video to see what I mean.

The episode also, revealed the secret history of witches dating back three hundred years of the Salem witch trials. The witches now are facing extinction because the previous generation of witches decided to not have children to avoid the threats and punishment that many witches are forced to endure. To protect the remaining witches, parents are sending their young daughters away to a special school in New Orleans. Below I posted a video which tells more about what to expect in the first episode.

Zoe, a new arrival to the show is whisked away when her family finds out she has the same “curse” as her grandmother. The girls at the school decide to welcome Zoe by walking so fast that only Zoe could see them out of the corner of her eye. At first I thought she was going to be a sacrifice to these girls with masks on but then the group revealed it was just a part of initiation.

The part at the end where Zoe uses her “curse” to get revenge on one of the surviving frat boys that Madison was raped by. So in the end in a strange way the frat boy ends up getting rapped by Zoe.

Fiona, the long absent Supreme, visits the school to protect the Coven. Considering Fiona and her daughter Cordelia have different views on whether to hide powers or not, I believe the two will fight over who is right during the entire season.

The only thing I did not like was how graphic the sex scenes were I felt like they could have been two seconds since it was a rape scene. Then the camera could of faded out of focus to where we did not see every detail. But overall I gave the episode a B- because the scenes were pretty horrific but I would of liked to see less of the sexual scenes and more gore.
